Ergonomic Assessments

An ergonomic assessment within the physiotherapy profession refers to an inspection of the workplace from the positioning of work related tools in relation to the worker to the posture of the worker so that adjustments can be made so that tasks can be performed as safely as possible to the highest standard required without increasing the risk of injury.

The main injuries include:-

  • Poor posture
  • Repetitive strain injuries
  • Lower back pain
  • Neck and shoulder complaints
  • Visual impairments

Sport and spinal offer ergonomic assessments for any type of work place. the specialist physiotherapist will visit the work place to perform the a one on one initial ergonomic assessment. They will be interested in evaluating how the worker is in his or her working environment and will use their extensive knowledge and experience in correcting functional movement and posture.

The physiotherapist will use movement analysis to gauge an understanding of how the worker operates in day to day working life. Advice and correction of movement will be integral to the assessment so that the worker can perform these tasks with less chance of injury whilst maintain productivity.
